INTRODUCTION
Lighting Engineering in a High-End Broadcast Environment.
The production of The Voice of Poland is one of the most demanding work environments for lighting directors in the country. The complexity of the set design, combined with strict technical requirements for camera work, demands absolute precision and reliability from the gear. The lighting design by Artur Szyman utilized 8 Brighter X-Beam IP laser fixtures as key tools to build a 3D architectural lighting space within the studio, serving as a core element of the scenic design.
THE CHALLENGE
Camera Compatibility
Shooting with high-end broadcast cameras requires absolute signal stability and total elimination of any flicker.
Beams and Optics
Standard discharge-lamp beam fixtures often produce unwanted spill light and noticeable hot-spots. In a studio environment, this leads to uncontrolled light spill on the set and localized overexposure on camera.
Aesthetics
Placing fixtures directly in the shot (in-frame) requires them to look clean, sleek, and visually premium.
THE SOLUTION
Deploying 8 X-Beam IP units solved these challenges thanks to their specific technical features:
Advanced Dimming & Refresh Rates: The fixture’s advanced dimming engine with adjustable PWM/frequency settings allowed the team to completely eliminate on-camera flicker.
Ultra-Low Divergence Laser Module: The laser source generated perfectly uniform beams that stayed sharp and defined even over long throw distances, without any hot-spots or spill.
Premium IP65 Housing: The high build quality and clean aesthetics of the IP65-rated housing made it easy to place the units directly in the camera frames as part of the visual set.
CONCLUSIONS
The use of the X-Beam IP on The Voice of Poland proves that in modern TV production, precision and fixture aesthetics have become top priorities. This implementation confirms that laser technology is highly effective for broadcast work, making the X-Beam IP an essential tool for demanding television lighting directors.
